"Waiting On" Wednesday: Pretty Little Liars #10: Ruthless by Sara Shepard

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Pretty Little Liars #10: Ruthless by Sara Shepard

The Premise: For years scandal has rocked Rosewood, Pennsylvania—and high school seniors Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer have always been at the center of the drama. They’ve lost friends, been targeted by a ruthless stalker named A, and narrowly escaped death. And it’s not over yet.
Aria’s love life is on the fritz. Emily’s exploring her wild side. Hanna’s kissing the enemy. And someone from Spencer’s past—someone she never thought she’d see again—is back to haunt her.
But none of that compares to what happened last spring break. It’s their darkest secret yet and guess who found out? Now A is determined to make them pay for their crime, and the only thing scarier than A is the fear that maybe, just maybe, they deserve what’s coming to them.
I love Pretty Little Liars and I can't wait to read this one! What's your "waiting on" pick this week?

(sorry for the blurry pic, couldn't find a better one!)

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Title: Across the Universe
Author: Beth Revis
Genre: YA, science fiction, dystopia
Publisher:
Razorbill
Pages: 416
Series: Book 1

The Premise: Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.

Cover Commentary: This is one of the stunning covers of this year, look at this beauty, it's totally gorgeous!

Commentary: When I first saw the cover of this book, I said,"I must read this book as soon as possible!" because I know that I would like it. I wasn't wrong, I loveee this book!=) I love reading science fiction novels and this one as being a YA dystopian science fiction novel, I can hardly thing anything else better than this.

The subject of the book is an interesting and catching story that you can hardly put the book aside. I want to read it all the time and finally finished it in a very short time. I love the plot, the characters--especially Harley=))--and the atmosphere. Actually the atmosphere is very dark and clostrophobic which can be dangerous for some people as it is very realistic=) and that's why I love this book so much.

The plot is mysterious and also the characters. You try to find who is the guilty one by examining all the characters. This makes you feel like you are a detective searching for the truth. Beth Revis is a very clever writer who keeps the novel mysterious from the begining till the end.

One of the best things about this book is that you can see the inside of the spaceship from its picture. I love it! Godspeed is one of the best ships that I've read in science fiction books, I love seeing where the characters move in the ship through the picture.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves reading science fiction and dystopian novels.

"Waiting On" Wednesday: Little Women and Me Lauren by Baratz-Logsted

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

The Premise: A twist in time gives Emily the power to fix Little Women. Oh, where to begin!
Emily is sick and tired of being a middle sister. So when she gets an assignment to describe what she'd change about a classic novel, Emily pounces on Little Women. After all, if she can't change things in her own family, maybe she can bring a little justice to the March sisters. (Kill off Beth? Have cute Laurie wind up with Amy instead of Jo? What was Louisa May Alcott thinking?!) But when Emily gets mysteriously transported into the 1860s world of the book, she discovers that righting fictional wrongs won't be easy. And after being immersed in a time and place so different from her own, it may be Emily-not the four March sisters-who undergoes the most surprising change of all. Lauren Baratz-Logsted's winning confection will appeal to fans of Little Women as well as anyone who enjoys a modern twist on an old favorite.

Oh I love Little Women and I can't wait to read this one! What's your "waiting on" pick this week?

Genre: YA, paranormal
Publisher:
HarperTeen
Pages: 352

The Premise: Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours.
But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
“A fast, flirty roller coaster of a ride. This story was everything I hoped for—sassy, light-hearted and downright scary. Oh, bleep! I’m in love!” (Becca Fitzpatrick, New York Times bestselling author of Hush, Hush)

Cover Commentary: I am in love with this beautiful cover, I loved it when ı first saw it. Also, after I read this book I find it more suitable and perfect for representing the context.
Commentary: I bought this book as soon as it comes out in my country and I love it! It is totally fantastic. It is an easy read that's why I could read it quickly and I love the way how Kiersten White wrote it. The context is a popular one with fantastic, paranormal characters and in the middle of them a sympathetic girl who you can easly love and put put yourself into her place.
While I am reading the novel, I find that I love all the characters. I don't why but I find all the characters charming and beautifully represented. Is that the writer's purpose or my interest, I don't care what, I think this makes the book so lovely. However, my favourite one is of course Evie, she is beutiful, attractive, clever, strong and repartee=))
I think this book is one of the best books in YA genre. It represents every aspect of it cleverly and succesfully. I love the atmosphere, the characters, the subject and how the writer wrote it. Kiersten White is a genius writer who catches the attention of the readers easily.

Follow Friday #1

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel @ Parajunkee, and Alison @ Alison Can ReadThis meme is a way to connect with other bloggers and to find new blogs to follow. Each Friday a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer on their blogs. Go here to find out more information.

Here is this week's question:

If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with who would it be?

This one is a really hard question for me=) If I could pick one character from a book, it would be Carrie Bradshaw (which can be because this one is the last book I read=P) from The Carrie Diaries and Sex and The City because she is one of the best writers in the fiction world. The character from a movie would be Kathleen Kelly from the movie You've Got Mail as she has got the most beautiful bookshop ever. Lastly the tv character would be Buffy from Buffy The Vampire Slayer because I'd love to fight with cool vampires=))

Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel by Candace Bushnell

Title: Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel
Author: Candace Bushnell
Genre: YA, chick lit
Publisher:
Balzer + Bray

Pages: 416
Series: Book 2

The Premise: Summer is a magical time in New York City and Carrie is in love with all of it—the crazy characters in her neighborhood, the vintage-clothing boutiques, the wild parties, and the glamorous man who has swept her off her feet. Best of all, she's finally in a real writing class, taking her first steps
toward fulfilling her dream.

This sequel to The Carrie Diaries brings surprising revelations as Carrie learns to navigate her way around the Big Apple, going from being a country "sparrow"—as Samantha Jones dubs her— to the person she always wanted to be. But as it becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile her past with her future, Carrie realizes that making it in New York is much more complicated than she ever imagined.

With her signature wit and sparkling humor, Candace Bushnell reveals the irresistible story of how Carrie met Samantha and Miranda, and what turned a small-town girl into one of New York City's most unforgettable icons, Carrie Bradshaw.

Cover Commentary: What's better than a pinkish cover, the answer is easy, NOTHING! I love the colour pink and I love it more when I see it on a book cover. Chick Lit books are usually pink and that's another reason why I love them=) The theme of this new Carrie Bradshaw book is "summer" and pink is a good choice for an energic and fun time of the year. Also it's the best for the fashionable character Carrie Bradshaw.

Commentary: My first review on this blog is about the first book of the Carrie Diaries and as I said before I looovveee Sex and The City and the character Carrie Bradshaw. The show is genius and the characters, too. Now I am happy that we go back to the characters' past with this series.

In this book we continue exploring Carrie Bradshaw's past starting from where we left her in the first book: she is in New York now! I read the first book in a very short time and I loved it, now that I know the events are going to develop more and they are going to take place in New York I read it quicker!=)

I am happy to see how the Sex and the City characters come together and be friends. I enjoy reading the problems or fun moments more than anything. I enjoy seeing how Carrie Bradshaw deal with her writing problems and what she did for her career.

This book is such a fun read and as I said in the first book, you can read this series without watching an episode of Sex and The City. This is a past for the characters, but you can enjoy this chick lit without knowing anything about them as you can learn more without the tv show in this series.

I recommend everyone who loves Candace Bushnell's genius writing and a fun reading of a chick lit.

Spring 2012 Penguin Teen Titles!

The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell

Title: The Carrie Diaries
Author: Candace Bushnell
Genre: YA, chick lit
Publisher:
Balzer + Bray

Pages: 400
Series: Book 1

The Premise:  The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of one of the most iconic characters of our generation.
Before Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was a small-town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school. Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend's betrayal makes her question everything.
With an unforgettable cast of characters, The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer. Readers will learn about her family background, how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. Through adventures both audacious and poignant, we'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins.

Cover Commentary: I am in love with this beautiful cover! It's shiny and gold which can be easily liked by any girl and it represents the chick lit covers in its best. There is one more cover I saw on the internet, but I have this one and though the other one is also beautiful, I prefer this shiny goldish and sexy cover=)

Commentary: I've watched Sex and The City and I can easily say that it is one of the most wonderful tv shows ever! I love Carrie and her friends and watching their daily lives makes me smile and feel better every time. This book starts telling us a Carrie that we don't know. She is young and living with her family. She has close friends, new boyfriends and first loves. There are some new things about Carrie, but there is one thing that you are familiar is she is the same funny cute girl.

I love reading Candace Bushnell's books. She is a great writer and she is one of the best writers in these genres; YA and chick lit. She creates an atmosphere that you feel like you are there, the characters are your friends and you never want to give up reading. This book took 2 days to read which can be one day, but I took it slow=)) Really I never wanted it to finish, but I know that the second book is waiting for me so I finished and started the other one.

Finally I can say that I am happy because Carrie came back. If you've never watched Sex and the City, don't be afraid to read this book. Everything will be new and fun to read for you=)
